African Spiritual Wisdom!!!

FEBRUARY 2012 MONTHLY AFFIRMATION:
I am the living expression of ageless wisdom.
From before there was a time,
I danced with God as me!
The roots of my African Soul,
unites all of humanity as One.
There is Only God as me, as you, as we!
And so it is!  Ashé!!!

Season for Peace and Nonviolence
at Guidance Church!!!
Join Us as We Stand for
Peace and Nonviolence!

This year we are celebrating our third annual Season! The initiative begins on January 30th with the memorial of Mahatma Mohandas K. Gandhi.  As the 64 days continue, the  legacy of Cesar Chavez is acknowledged on March 31st by a California holiday named in his honor.  The Season concludes on April 4th, the memorial of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  During this entire time, Guidance will honor these visionaries and focus on the desire for an empowered and nonviolent world.

On each of the 64 days, I encourage you to participate in the spiritual practice of reflecting on the ident stified quote throughout the day.  Please mark your calendar for the upcoming events listed and set the intention to celebrate this time together as a spiritual community.

I am indeed profoundly grateful that our church community continues to take an active role in the Season for Peace and Nonviolence and joins with the large contingency worldwide that annually celebrate this powerful season.  Our greater intention and vision is to create the space for Peace & Nonviolence as a way of life that we celebrate and champion all year round.

All love, light, peace, joy, justice & freedom be with you.

Rev. Nirvana Reginald Gayle
Minister and Spiritual Director

Week #2 (February 6, 2012 - February 12, 2012)

February 6, 2012
“We cannot be in peace until we know that the Spirit is the only cause, medium and effect in our lives.
There is no past, present or future to It.
The mind must come to know and to realize all these truths if it is to have real and lasting peace.”
~ Ernest Holmes. The Science of Mind. ~

February 7, 2012
“One day we must come to see that peace is not merely a distant goal we seek, but that it is a means by which we arrive at that goal.
We must pursue peaceful ends through peaceful means.”
~ Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.~

February 8, 2012
“The feminist vision…abandons the concept of naming enemies
and adopts a concept familiar
to the non-violent tradition:  naming behavior that is oppressive, naming abuse of power that is
held unfairly and must be destroyed, but naming no person whom we are willing to destroy.”
~ Barbara Deming ~

February 9, 2012
“We seek peace, knowing that peace is the climate of freedom.”
~ Dwight D. Eisenhower ~

February 10, 2012
“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you,
whose thoughts are fixed on you!”
~ Isaiah 26:3 NLT~

February 11, 2012
“Whenever you are confronted with an opponent,
conquer him with love.”
~ Mahatma Mohandas K. Gandhi ~

February 12, 2012
“At the center of nonviolence stands the principle of love..
Along the way of life, someone must have sense enough and morality enough to cut off the chain of hate.
This can only be done by projecting the ethic of love
in the center of our lives.”
~ Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. ~
